Free internet - SG

Wireless@SG
Wireless@SG is an initiative by the Singapore government which allows users enjoy free, both in-door and outdoor seamless wireless broadband access with speeds of up to 1 Mbps at public areas in Singapore.

All residents and visitors to Singapore can sign up for a free account.

1. Online Account Application
Users with access to the Internet can log onto any of the three operators' websites and complete an online registration form. Alternatively, they can click on the 'New User Sign Up' link found on the Wireless@SG log-in page when they select the Wireless@SG network at the coverage areas. The account will be activated immediately and a password sent to them via SMS.

2. Customer Service CentresThose without mobile phones or online access can visit any of the operators' customer service centres to register and collect their passwords. Users can also check with their operator of choice for other registration methods. Getting Connected to Wireless@SG
Visit http://www.infocomm123.sg/wireless_at_sg/ for more details and to register for an account!

3. Alternatively, if you don't have a Singapore number and are too lazy to visit the customer service centre, you may try this if you have international roaming.
  • Ensure you are roaming on the Singtel network
  • Dial *186 and press call – your phone will make a call but it will disconnect almost immediately
  • You will then receive a text message with your username and password - The username is usually your phone number @singtel e.g. +635425682@singtel
  • Search for available WIFI on your mobile and connect to Wireless@SG
  • Once connected, open your browser. You will be directed to a page to login.
  • Enter the username and password in the text message. Hit enter and you’re online!
Note that the password is valid only for 24 hours. Just repeat the above process once it has expired and you are good to go. :)

Weather - SG

Weather

Like most of Southeast Asia, Singapore is generally hot and humid. It's warm and humid year round, with the temperature almost never dropping below 20°C (68°F), even at night, and usually climbing to 30°C (86°F) during the day. Recent times, it even reached till 35°C.  Humidity is high, mounting over a 75% mark.

November and December is the rainy season but don't let the climate stop you from coming! Most buildings are air-conditioned (to the point that you may want to bring along a sweater). When it does rain, it's generally only for a short period.

For those who enjoy the sun and the beach, Singapore is an ideal place for beach lovers, as you get the hot sun throughout the year. So when you're in Singapore, just bring along your cooling apparels and hats.

Check http://app2.nea.gov.sg/3hnowcast.aspx for weather forecasts.
